  • Fraser Valley Wedding Centerpiece Trends

You can almost always count on dry weather in the month of August here in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, but rain is always a possibility. While most of Encore Wedding Coordination Specialists's clients have a rain plan in place it's typically not what the couple hopes for and weather forecasts can be especially stressful in the week leading up to the big day. Last weekend we were dealt some rather unseasonably dreary weather but miraculously the clouds parted and our brides and grooms were able to have their dream day as planned. We here at Encore always make sure that we're one step ahead of mother nature and will do our absolute best to make sure no matter the weather situation your day is just perfection. We wanted to show you a few different styles of centerpieces this week that are both trendy and personalized. Many brides and grooms love to plan the decor and details of their weddings since it reflects who they are. Taking your venue into consideration as well can truly wow your guests with your style. Let's have a look at some of the gorgeous centerpieces and decor that Encore helped our lovely couples with in the past few weeks. Not sure what aesthetic works for your venue? Our coordinators are ready to help! Eucalyptus is still the greenery du jour. With it's fragrant scent and gorgeous large green leaves you can see why our Fraser Valley brides can't get enough of this beautiful plant. You can use eucalyptus in a variety of ways; it works for an organic table runner, centerpieces, and additional greenery on your welcome table, gift table, and even on signage. This stunning dense eucalyptus table runner/centerpiece was so simple yet gorgeous; the addition of a candles of varying heights makes these tables romantic and perfect for a dreamy celebration. If you're using round tables and still want to add eucalyptus or another type of greenery to your guest tables a few springs carefully laid around the candles and vases is very effective. Eucalyptus can be surprisingly expensive so if you still want to add some to your decor a little does go a long way. Don't you just love this centerpiece?? The dense almost tropical greenery looks beautiful along with the gold geometric candle (which is from Ikea by the way!) and wooden table number. Another up and coming trend is using live potted plants for centerpieces. These are not only totally eco-friendly but can double as guest favours! Baby's breath is the quintessential wedding floral. And they're inexpensive! Add baby's breath to your greenery table runner along with a few strategically placed roses and take your head table to the next level. This table looks amazing with it's combination of greenery, florals, and candles; all on top of a dark harvest table. Wooden rounds are still going strong as well; and how cute are these burlap and laced wrapped votives?? These tie beautifully into the burlap/lace table runners and looked breathtaking in this chic barn wedding. Hydrangeas are a great flower for the budget minded; just one stem in a vase can make a huge impact. This gorgeous bouquet also featured astilbe and dahlias. Choosing flowers that are season can help keep your floral budget in check. That's it for us this week at Encore Wedding Coordination Specialists; we can't wait to show you what next weekend's Fraser Valley wedding couples have in store!

  • Another Weekend of Stunning Fraser Valley and Vancouver Area Weddings!

The wedding coordinators here at Encore Events all have our favourite wedding venues in the Fraser Valley. With so many venues in the Lower Mainland to satisfy any style and budget, brides and grooms can find it a bit overwhelming to narrow down their search. We love showcasing some of the lesser known venues on our blog and can easily help you find the perfect location for your dream day. Let's check out where some of our Encore couples recently tied the knot! Last week we introduced you to several hidden gems in the Fraser Valley. This week we are excited to reveal another stunning venue that you may not have considered in your venue search: Golden Eagle Golf Course in Pitt Meadows. Can you believe that view?? Golden Eagle truly has everything: mountain views and swaying grasses. The photo opportunities are endless at this amazing venue. We love how this couple added just the right amount of greenery to compliment the natural beauty of this ceremony space. And with the white tent your guests are able to stay cool and comfortable. The reception space is also just stunning; bright and airy with white washed boards with romantic chandeliers. The epitome of rustic chic! This head table with a burlap runner just adds to the overall charm and theme. Did you know that Encore Wedding Coordinators are not only available for your big day in the Fraser Valley but in the stunning Okanagan Valley as well? This beautiful backyard wedding took place in Kelowna and we made sure that every detail was attended to. The dazzling surrounding gardens made just the perfect backdrop for a perfect day. We also loved the choice of rich dark chairs for the ceremony; it worked wonderfully with the wine barrels and gave the space a moody and romantic feel. Your choice of chairs can make a huge difference in the impact of your style and overall aesthetic. Another unique venue is the Museum of Vancouver. One of our senior coordinators, Stephanie, took this booking last minute after the couple's coordinator cancelled. She helped take all the pressure off and let them enjoy their big day! Don't you just love the look of this sleek modern white lounge space? Perfect for guests to mingle and relax. Finally we return to the fabulous farm venue; Hopcott Farm in Pitt Meadows. Last week we showed you the stunning barn reception space, but just check out this ceremony location. So many possibilities for adding your own touches and making this rustic space your own. Looks like another weekend of sunshine and beautiful couples saying their I Dos is coming up for the Encore team!

  • Sunny Days Ahead with Encore - Fraser Valley Wedding Coordination

It finally feels like summer here in the lower mainland and wedding season is in full swing! July started off a little cooler and cloudier than many of us West Coasters would have liked but it looks like nothing but sunshine ahead in the coming weeks. With so many gorgeous outdoor wedding locations booked for last weekend our wedding day coordination couples definitely lucked out with this weather! Check out these picture perfect events we were honoured to be part of: Westwood Plateau is one of our favourite Coquitlam venues. Just look at this stunning ceremony space: The natural wooded beauty makes this the perfect West Coast wedding day location. Our couple choose the perfect elegant decor to make their special day absolutely stunning. We love their blue green and white colour palate with silver accents. Hopcott Farms is a new venue and for those looking for that elegant barn wedding you have come to the right place! Can you even believe how beautiful this reception space is? The lighting is on point and this venue is great for rustic style weddings. Whatever your aesthetic you can make this barn into your dream venue. And just look at this amazing head table backdrop! Another favourite is the stunning Whonnock Lake Centre in Maple Ridge. This hidden gem is bright, airy, and the wisteria backdrop at the ceremony space is just breathtaking! Our couple brought in this stunning greenery chandelier which is a great way to bring the outdoors into your reception space and makes a beautiful focal point above the head table. And we love the combination of round and long tables! Get creative with your floor plans, this is your day! Next up in our busy wedding coordination weekend was an Abbotsford family farm stunner. The potted plant display and French door seating chart were just so charming. And finally we have a simply gorgeous wedding at a private Fraser Valley location. Can you even with the heart shaped tree at the ceremony site? Love! The couple chose beautiful centerpieces that didn't overshadow the beautiful grounds, proving that given the right venue less is definitely more. We love the elegant florals with eucalyptus greenery. This was one busy weekend for the Encore Event Wedding Day Coordination team, and we love it that way! We are looking forward to a summer full of more of these amazing outdoor venues and watching our couples enjoy the happiest day of their lives! #brides #weddingplanning #weddingcoordination #thisteam #unstoppable #weddingseason #vancouver #fraservalley #okanagan #weddingday #encoreweddingcoordination #encoreevents

  • Whonnock Lake Romance

On April 27, 2019 Whonnock Lake was full of romance and pretty little things! The weather was a little unpredictable but after a few emergent trips outside to dry the chairs prior to the ceremony, this lovely wedding took place on the rear terrace as the peaked out for a quick hello. The brides style was a lovely mix of country and rustic chic. From the wooden rounds that fit perfectly in this lodge style building to the floral hoops we set up hanging from the head table, the room came together perfectly. Golds, greens and ivory finishes gave this venue the polished look the bride had visioned.

  • Brix & Mortar Vancouver Wedding

The moment Laura contacted Encore Events for her wedding coordination needs I knew it was going to be a wedding to remember. On May 5th, 2019 we had the privilege to work with this amazingly wonderful and energetic family. The ceremony was held in the courtyard of Brix & Mortar in Yaletown, with the reception to follow in the upper floor of their restaurant. Laura's romantic style was a perfect fit in this historic building and the guests were oozing with love for this amazing couple. The team at Brix were sensational to work with and were professional and organized ensuring everything was to perfection. The flower creations added the simple and romantic decor to the backdrop of the ceremony, provided by Sandra from Westgate Flower Garden. Tricia and I were so happy to be apart of this celebration of love and family! #unburdened2019

  • Spring has sprung and wedding season is off with a bang!

With the cold and crisp days behind us, The Encore Events team enjoyed a fantastic start to the wedding season in March at Swan-e-set Bay Resort and Country Club in Pitt Meadows, BC. Maria and Teodor chose the most elegant location and date for their union of love! Stephanie had the pleasure of working with this incredible couple on their wedding day, and what a day it was! The sun was shinning, the guests were filled with joy and the Bride and Groom were truly the Inspiration of the day. Their decor, elegant and classic, was a simple reminder of this sophisticated couple and the love they were bringing to each other on this day. Wishing you both a tremendous life ahead and we absolutely loved being apart of your special day!

  • WE ARE GEARING UP FOR 2019!!

With the 2018 Holiday Season behind us and the Spring right around the corner, Encore is excited and proud to be servicing over 60 weddings this summer! With this busy Vancouver wedding planning season approaching as the longer days begin to show, you will see a couple new Coordinators on our team and 4 new Assistants!!! I am so thrilled with the support from our past and current clients and the growth of Encore, its really an exciting time ahead for us and my vision, and the team I have to lead the way with me! You may not all know, but creating a business I could be proud of, place my stamp on as my own and truly embrace as a community and culture has been my vision since conception of Encore. It was never just about business, income and freedom to be my own boss in an industry I love. It was always more. When I dreamed of opening Encore I dreamed of a team of professionals to work alongside, a team that understood we did more than complete a job with each and every wedding, we ensured we created a lifetime of memories for that couple and their family. Its not enough for my team to say they enjoyed their day at work, I want them to feel the empowerment of making a difference to our clients on such a special day. Our team understands that for this one day, however hard, long or challenging it may be, we absorb it all to leave after the festivities are complete knowing the bride enjoyed her fairytale and the groom.. well he now has a happy wife!! ( HAPPY WIFE, HAPPY LIFE, LOL!) It is with great happiness I share we are growing... again for the 2019 season! Stay tuned for the additional Coordinators and Assistants we will be announcing in the Spring! Cheers to all of us this year, 2019 will be epic!

  • How can you save for your wedding during the Christmas Season, from your friendly Vancouver Wedding

Sounds crazy doesn't it! "Who saves money during the Holidays" you ask? Well, it's time to be SAVVY, you have a WEDDING to save for after all!!! Vancouver Wedding Season will be here soon! Let's get down to the real deal, peel the layers of the Christmas bill and see how we can help. After all, Encore is not just Coordinators you know, we are PLANNERS!!! So here we go! ( I highly suggest you have a pen, paper and calculator ready!) Question: How many people do you exchange gifts with at Christmas? Parents, Siblings, Cousins, Aunts,Uncles and anyone really who is on your gift exchange list can add up. Lets be honest... what do you spend at Christmas? DON'T tell me, just make a note and do some math at the end of this blog. How can you save for your wedding while enjoying the most glitzy season of all... and the most EXPENSIVE! Here are some ideas to keep you on track! 1. A. If you two are the social butterflies, chances are you have a plethora of friends and exchange many gifts to show your gratitude of friendship through the season. SKIP the gifts with these peeps and instead, organize and host a night of social engagement at your home. Host the event after the dinner hour to save on food cost. If they come on a full belly all you need to supply is nibbles and hors d'oeuvres to accompany the drinks and socializing to be a great host! (Here is a hint, estimate 3-5 pieces for your crowd plus fillers like chips/ cheese and crackers, etc.). Also, if you are in a smaller space you can host more guests as a cocktail stand up party than if you were doing an dinner. WIN/WIN B. Provide a "Festive Signature Cocktail" through the first 2 hours of the evening making it your Cocktail hour of the party and then its BYOB. Get creative, find a drink that oozes YOU and run with it! Then for BYOB, Ask all to bring a Favorite wine or beer (growlers are great) to share. C. Remember, the holidays, especially today in our Instagram, texty, non social era, are truly about connecting and celebrating together more than ever. Be the trend setter and it will most likely become your "TRADITION" even after the nuptials! 2. When it comes to your family, this is my opinion. Christmas is for the children, it truly is. I know, we all love a great surprise under the tree, don't get me wrong, but you need not exchange gifts with the WHOLE family to enjoy the real spirit of gift giving. This year, DO THE HAT! That's right, its a tradition many families have taken part in over the years, and its especially good for larger families! Every adult gets their name put in the hat weeks prior to Christmas, then you draw a name and that is who you buy for, and just one gift! You and your family decide the max price, theme, size, whatever you want to make it fun and giving for all! ( If you want to add a little pizzaz for the ones you will spend Christmas morning with, ask all involved to spend X amount of $$ on STOCKING STUFFERS and stuff away!! Its like getting two great surprises, a stocking and a gift! 3. SKIP the expensive night on the town this New Year's Eve and instead enjoy your communities free evening festivities! Even if your not a fan of the family friendly stuff just yet, a New Years downtown Vancouver at the Robson Street outdoor ice rink with some hot chocolate ( mixed with Bailey's, not judging!) and warm mit's is a pretty romantic way to celebrate the New Year. Listen, with all that you are about to embark on in the years to come as husband and wife... Trust me, these moments will carry with you through the years far more than some drunk night you don't remember... and you will feel great the next day!!! BONUS!!! Ok, so those are just a few of my ideas, trust me I could go on and on, and if you know me, I usually do, lol. So lets do the math, and I will be a little on the soft side, I am sure many of you spend more so be realistic when you apply this formula. Gifts you usually buy (between both of you for family and friends) that you could change: ( via host party night and gift giving game): -2 Moms/ 2 Dads/4 Siblings/4 Aunts/ 4 Uncles/4 Cousins/ 8 friends @ $60/each = $1680.00 New Years Eve (outfit, club, dinner, drinks, cab for 2) = $500 New Plan: 2 gifts each for the Hat at $100 each = $200 Host night of 20 friends at your house = $500 Night out in your community (with a flask or two of Bailey's and maybe a cab :)) = $50.00 Total Original Christmas estimate between the two of you = $2180.00 New Christmas Plan = $750.00 SAVINGS for your wedding: $1430.00!!! This Christmas, be SAVVY, SWEET and SMART and take the Encore Christmas Challenge, I can't wait to see how much you saved and what creative new traditions you created! 2.

  • 2018 Wedding Season...Almost a wrap!

With the end of September nearing, so is the prime wedding season. It is a little emotional for me. It has been my first full season of weddings as an entrepreneur in the industry I love, and its been a wild ride of crazy, endless days at the best of times. However, I wouldn't change it for the world. I have learned so much about myself, my ambition and drive and what my desires are to serve in the wedding industry and grow Encore. This season, I have grown as a business, learned what works and what doesn't, and sought out the kind of people I want on my team to move forward into 2019. I decided to grow Encore to a bigger audience this year and that we have done. With almost 60 weddings complete in 2018, a growing team from Vancouver to the Okanagan and a desire to bring even more to 2019 brides, Encore has only just begun. Thank you to all our clients this season, and those still anticipating their "I do's". We have been blessed to be apart of each and everyone of your weddings, and felt like family all the way through! Stay in touch and always remember my words of wisdom, credits to wise words from my father in law. "NEVER go to bed angry". As blissful as a wedding day is, trust me when I say... there will be moments that will test you in marriage. 19.5 years later, my husband can be my best friend in the morning and biggest stress by the evening, lol. But we have always taken his parents advise and have put the time in to work it out before we head to bed. IT WORKS! "Love does not mean you will always agree, see eye to eye, or never have an argument. It means despite the bad days you still can't see yourself without that person." HAPPY AUTUMN TO ALL OUR LOVE BUDS! MAY YOU SNUGGLE, CUDDLE AND MAKE MEMORIES FOREVER! I have adored and befriended for years to come, Encore is just beginning!
